Grants

Artist Innovation Awards guidelines will be available on February 15th.

Any person, association, group, or governmental agency may apply for Cultural & Aesthetic Project Grants.

Opportunity Grants are given throughout the year to enable the council to respond to artists' or organization's opportunities or emergencies.

Professional Development Grants are given throughout the year to enable the council to respond to artists', organizations' or teachers' professional development needs.

Programs

The Folk and Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program encourages the passing on of folk arts by offering awards to individual master artists for the purpose of teaching their art and skills to a dedicated apprentice who wants to learn.

Montana's Circle of American Masters in the Visual Folk and Traditional Arts showcases Montana's rich and vital living heritage by recognizing the state's visual folk artists who have created a significant body of work.

In the Percent for Art program the Montana legislature allocates a percentage of the overall state budget to be set aside for the creation of public works of art.

The Montana Poet Laureate is a position that recognizes and honors a citizen poet of exceptional talent and accomplishment.

State of the Arts is published six times a year by the Montana Arts Council. Montanans can receive the newspaper for free.
