For Artists

Percent for Art

Montana Tech Natural Resources Building (MBMG-Petroleum Engineering Bldg, Montana Tech) Butte.

While the application deadline is now past, information about the application process for this project is offered below for reference.

Eligibility: The call for artists was open to all Montana residents. Budget: Up to $43,200

Artwork: Applicants could submit up to three proposal artworks for a single site, a variety of sites, or for unspecified site/sites.
Due to the complexity of the possible locations for artwork in the building, proposals were invited for artwork that was ready-to-hang, for modification, and/or still in the conceptual stages to be developed in a cooperative design process between the artist(s) and the selection committee.

Sites: Sites were located on all three floors of the Natural Resources Building. Full site information is available in the Project Description and Construction Notes document below.

The Building: The Natural Resources Building houses staff, labs, and the museum of the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology along with the classrooms, faculty and laboratories of the Petroleum Engineering Department of Montana Tech.
